How To Look Busy When You Really Are Not

1. Always walk with a few documents and folders in your hands. People with nothing in their hands look like they're going to eat in the canteen. People with newspapers in their hands look like they're going to the toilet. People with a few folders in their hands look like they're hardworking employees going to an important meeting.

2. Use computers to look busy. Anytime you use a computer, it looks like work, even if you're surfing, emailing or playing games.

3. Have a messy desk. Build huge files of documents around the table, even if it's one year old. Pile them high and wide. If you know someone is coming to your desk, bury the documents you need halfway down the existing stock and then search for it when he arrives.

4. When the boss is working late, leave the office late a well. You could read magazines, do crossword puzzle, or play solitaire. Just make sure when the boss leaves, you leave with him as well.

5. Creatively sigh for effect. Sigh as loud as possible hen there are many people around, giving the impression that you are under extreme pressure.

6. Build vocabulary. Read up on computer magazines and pick out all their jargon or simply invent words you don't understand. Use the phrase phrases freely in conversation with your bosses. Remember they don't have to understand what you say but you will sound impressive.

7. Have two jackets. If you work in a big office, always leave a spare jacket draped over the back of your seat. This gives the impression that you are still somewhere in the office. The second jacket should be worn while you are malling somewhere.

8. Most important, don't forward this to your boss by mistake....
