Airplane travel often leaves your skin and eyes feeling dry. This is because the humidity in an aircraft cabin is usually less then 20 percent. The dry air may cause you some discomfort, but there is little risk to your health. Here's what you can do to minimize the dryness:
- Drink reasonable amounts of water and juices.
- Limit your consumption of alcohol, tea, coffee and caffeinated drinks. They cause you to lose fluids.
- Wear glasses instead of contact lenses.
- Apply a skin moisturizer
