The First Comic Strip Superhero - The Phantom

Contrary to popular belief, Superman was not the first comic strip superhero.That honour falls instead to The Phantom, created in 1936 by the American cartoonist Lee Falk, two years before Superman.

The Phantom newspaper strip featured the adventures of Kit Walker, who sported a mask and a figure-hugging purple outfit as "the ghost who walks".

Isla Reta Beach Resort at Island Garden City of Samal (IGaCoS)

My wife and her classmates at her master's class decided to celebrate their passing in their comprehensive exam at Isla Reta Beach Resort. I heard of this place from some of my friend, but did not bother to look into it. 

I was hesitant to go along with them at first since going there to Samal requires you to ride a boat. And it was during that week where there were several storms that entered the Philippine area, and since I don't know how to swim I have second thoughts on joining them, but in the end I still end up tagging with them since my wife is really good at convincing me to join. 

Boats that are bound to Isla Reta can be found at Sta Ana Wharf. We arrive at Sta. Ana Wharf at 2 P.M. You can ask the guard station where the boat bound to Isla Reta is docking. The boat was scheduled to leave at 3 PM that day.

Inside the boat. The boat is clean and it has life jacket available just the top of every seat.

The boat had to make a stop at Kaputian wharf  to unload some of its cargo (mainly sack of rice bought by people living in Kaputian) we dock there for 5 minutes and then left. The boat then sailed to Talicud Island where Isla Reta Beach Resort is located. When we arrive at Talicud Island's port we have to walk about 2 minutes to Isla Reta since the boat doesn't take you to the resort (the boat going straight to Isla Reta was only available on the morning trip).

The place has plenty of people already. But not as crowded as lets say Paradise Beach Resort. When we settle our bags on our open cottage that my wife's classmate has reserved earlier. I started to roam around, and I had to say the place looks great, it was well maintained and there are plenty of staff you could ask for assistance to. I could also see lots of tent . You can bring your own tent, but you will still pay a fee for it. In my case I had to rent a tent at Isla Reta, their tent will cost about Php 400 good for two persons. There will be additional if you want to add pillow, blanket and mattress.

There are shower and comfort room just near their canteen. There is also a place for washing utensils, and grilling areas.A volleyball court (2 of them one near the beach and the other near the shower and comfort rooms).

Comfort and Shower rooms inside and for the males there are a couple of outdoor shower too.

I like playing in this court though, its open and no coconut trees around (hate to experience being hit by a falling coconut)

The canteen closes at 10 pm in the evening

Electricity is scheduled in this resort, it will be turned off at 6 A.M. in the morning and turned on in the evening. Better make sure all your gadgets are fully charged by the time the electricity is shut off.

You can also dip in the beach at night, although its really cold. There's a spot light at each end of the resort, so you can be visible to your friends and also for security purposes. But if you prefer not to be visible (a private time with a loved one hmmmm) you can swim in the middle. But its during the day when the sun comes up that you'll appreciate the beauty of this resort.

I would rather prefer swimming daytime

I'm glad my wife convince me to come, and I can't wait to visit this place again.

"Call Me Maybe" by Carly Rae Jepsen - Most Successful Single of the Year 2012

I love this song, even my daughter, the song has a nice beat to it. 

Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" is officially the most successful single of the year so far. The summer hit has now been on top of the Billboard Hot 100 for nine weeks, passing the eight weeks Gotye's "Somebody That I Used To Know" spent at No. 1, Billboard notes that the chart hasn't seen two successful songs dominate since 2009. The two songs have spent a combined 17 weeks at No. 1. That's the most for two songs in a row since The Black Eyed Peas had back to back success with "Boom Boom Pow" and "I Gotta Feeling" in 2009. The two Black Eyed Peas Songs spent a total of 26 weeks at No. 1

"Call Me Maybe" has now been downloaded over 5 million times, while "Somebody That I Used To Know" is now over 6 million downloads. "Somebody That I Used To Know" is currently at No. 6 on the Hot 100.

Ashton Kutcher's Expensive Gift to Sexy Actress Mila Kunis

After the photos of their romance circulating the net, now a news of an expensive gift for Kunis from Kutcher must be driving Demi Moore nuts.

Ashton Kutcher bought Mila Kunis a $5,000 phone case engraved with both their initials. The two and a Half Men actor reportedly designed the bejeweled case himself, with pink crystals and a heart encircling both their initials in real diamonds, leaving the sexy actress from the movie Ted thrilled.

A source said "He spent five thousand bucks on Mila's case. Needles to say, she loved it!" 

It had recently been claimed Ashton and Mila are living together and how the former That 70's Show co-stars are inseparable from each other.

A source said "They're basically living together. Like any new couple in love, they're pretty much joined the hip. They've been sneaking around for months but there;s only so long you can keep it quiet. They're staying with each other most night's. Mila's practically moved in to Ashton's Hollywood home."

Tom Cruise to Sue Tabloid over "House of Horrors"

The Tom Cruise - Katie Holmes divorce was the talk of the town. But now Tom Cruise has other issue to tackle with. Tom has threatened to sue tabloid the National Enquirer for a cover story that brands him an "abusive monster". "THE ABUSE - PUNISHMENTS - HUMILIATION...Katie's tortured life exposed," reads the cover.

The legal threat comes after Cruise's shock split from wife Katie Holmes less than two weeks ago. The tabloid, emblazoned with a bold "Inside Tom's House of Horrors!" cover headline, claimed Holmes endured a "tortured life" of punishments and humiliation with a controlling, abusive Cruise.

The Enquirer also said the couple's six year old daughter Suri was forced to live in a small, windowless room for six months. An outraged Cruise had his lawyer Bert Fields fire off a letter blasting the "disgraceful and lurid" story to Enquirer publisher American Media, The Hollywood Reporter has reported.

Cruise is demanding the Enquirer retract the story and it's "lies" which his lawyer says will cost the actor hundreds of millions of dollars of professional and personal damages. "Mr. Cruise is certainly not a "monster." He is a caring father, a hardworking actor and, above all, an honest, decent man," the letter said, adding that Suri slept in a nursery - with a window - adjoining the couple's bedroom.

Cruise has been dogged by rabid speculation over his personal life, especially over his devotion to Scientology, ever since Katie Holmes blindsided him by filling for a divorce. Holmes was given sole custody of their daughter this week, in a move widely seen as an attempt to stop details of Cruise's private life being dragged though the media.

Katy Perry to Join American Idol as Judge

With the departure of Idol Judge Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez, plenty of rumors have been popping up here and there, onto who will replace this judges. 

One singer rumored to be a possible replacement is Katy Perry. But Katy Perry has ruled out a stint as a judge on American idol, insisting the talent show is too much  of a commitment for her at this moment. The pop superstar has confirmed producers approached her and asked if she'd be interested in joining a new look panel - but she had to turn them down. She said, " People have reached out to me about the possibility of being involved, and it's not right for me yet.. It's a real commitment to be on one of those shows."

Reports suggest Perry, will.i.am, Miley Cyrus and Fergie have been considered as possible replacement for current judges Jennifer Lopez, Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler in a bid to compete with rival talent shows The X Factor and The Voice.

Personally, I like that both Steven and Jennifer left the American Idol, Jennifer for me was too goody2x to the contestant, and Steven, well hmmm can't say much about this guy too. I would rather have Jimmy Iovine as suitable replacement.

Nicole Kidman helped Katie Holmes "Escape" Her Marriage

The Katie Holmes - Tom Cruise split have been the headline the past few days. New circulating the net about how Katie Holmes "escaped" a marriage apparently going nowhere - and the strange religion so associated with Tom Cruise. 

But the new talk in town is that Katie Holmes got a little help, from an unlikely person, a person that was once very close to Tom Cruise. That person is Tom Cruise's ex, Nicole Kidman. It appears now the Aussie actress helped Katie Holmes in her plot to leave Tom Cruise and the church he ascribes to. That's no small feat, considering Scientology is notorious for payback. Stories abound of parents being cut off from children, defectors being tailed by Scientology goons etc. 

"They've spoken over the last few weeks, " a source said, on the heels of that quickie divorce. The timing lines right up, considering that the couple went official with their split June 29. "Nicole has been supportive, saying she's been through it too and to hang in there," the confidante continues. Holmes may have used a disposable cellphone to secretly phone Kidman, Cruise's second wife.

According to reports the 33 year old mom of 6 year old Suri used throwaway mobiles to plot the divorce. That way, Holmes allegedly went undetected by Cruise and Co. It worked, as insiders have widely reported that Cruise was blindsided by Katie leaving him. There's been no "ex-hating" here from the start. Apparently, Homes has been chummy with Kidman since 2006 - the year Katie took the dive with Cruise. "She has been a private friend not many people know about," the insider said.

4 Important Words Your Dog Should Know

When you had a dog in your house, it is necessary to teach him life skills to help you communicate with one another. To get started. Here are 4 of the most important words you should teach him.

1. SIT. Sit is the most common and the easiest word to teach a dog. If your dog tends to jump on you to lick your face and greet you, asking him to sit prevents him from toppling you over, and keeps him from accidentally causing injury to both of you. Plus, when you're walking your dog and are about to cross the road, asking him to sit allows you to look around and make sure it's safe first.

2. DOWN. The down (belly on the floor) word is one of the cornerstones for more advanced obedience skills. Teaching a dog to go into a "down" position is more challenging since you're asking the dog to go into a submissive position. If your dog is having a hard time with it, that's normal. Asking your dog to go "down" in a public place will make him less intimidating to other people. It also sends a message to other dogs that he means no harm, and is less likely to end up in a fight when other dogs are around.

3. WAIT. Wait is a word that differs from other words, since it's a concept rather than an action. Teaching your dog to "wait" develops patience and "frustration tolerance" Don't confuse it with "stay" which means "hold your position". Your dog can perceive "wait" as holding himself back for a few seconds, in any position he prefers. It's teaching him self control.

When your dog gets excited during mealtime, ask him to wait a few seconds while you put the bowl down so you don't spill food on the floor. He may go into a "down" or a "sit" or simply move away, it's his choice. Or when visitors ring the doorbell, asking him to wait before opening the door teaches him to greet visitors politely instead of jumping up and frightening them.

4. COME. Asking your dog to come when called may be a difficult thing to do especially when he is off leash, at a distance from you, and smelling cat poop in the bush. But teaching the word "come" enables you to call your dog back to you in a highly stimulating place like a park, and away from a potentially dangerous situation. Mastering this is not easy and involves bringing your dog to different places and training him where there are a lot of distractions. But your dog must respond immediately to you upon hearing this word in any place, in any circumstance. Having a clear understanding of the word "come" will give your dog greater freedom off leash and even outdoors.

The ability to get a dog's attention and keep it is the key to training any dog. When your dog is both physically and mentally present, learning comes so much faster. All these words are best taught through positive reinforcement method to maintain a happy, enthusiastic dog.

The Amazing Spiderman Earns $35 Million on it First Day

I have not seen the movie yet, watching movie in cinemas now a days are just too darn expensive for me. I'll just wait for the DVD or Blueray copy to hit the stores. The Amazing Spider Man has earned $35 million domestically in it's first day. 

Box office trackers had projected that The Amazing Spider Man might earn around $120 million in its first six days, through the end of Fourth of July weekend. 

The opening day results show the resilience of the Spider Man brand, which set box office records from 2002 to 2007 with three films directed by Sam Raimi and starring Tobey Maguire as the web slinging superhero.

After a falling out between Raimi and distributor Sony on a fourth film, the franchise started over, with Marc Webb directing and Andrew Garfield slipping into Spider Man's red and blue suit.

The Amazing Spiderman retells the story of how a bite from a radioactive spider endows gangly teen Peter Parker with super strength, agility and senses. The film co star Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen and Sally Field.

Mission Impossible Star Tom Cruise is World's Highest Earning Actor

The "Rock of Ages" star Tom Cruise is the world's highest earning actor. Cruise topped the annual list by Forbes after earning $75 million between May 2011 and May 2012.

Cruise enjoyed a successful yer after Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol earned more than $700 million at global box offices.
