How To Avoid Isolation in Marriage

Here is a nice article which can be a big help to married couples. Ever played hide and seek as a child? The game continues even in marriage, in our desire to hide and avoid getting hurt. So how do couples avoid isolation in marriage?

1. Seek God by regularly praying together as a couple. According to author Dennis Rainey, prayerlesness and selfishness are co-conspirators against oneness in marriage. In doing this, you are able to build a bridge of understanding between your spouse and you. Forgive one another, and pray.

2. Seek one another, faithfully. Two people in marriage relationship have areas where they just don't automatically come together. It is imperative that you don't allow your mate to hide but that you seek him or her out. Don't live by feelings and give up, but live by faith and seek him out.

3. Seek to defeat the enemy together. Your mate is not your enemy. Never forget that you are at war and that your marriage is not taking place on a romantic balcony, but a spiritual battlefield.

The Richards are the 1st Philippine team to win the Amazing Race Asia

Photobucket

Wow, finally after 3 season, team Philippines of Richard Hardin and Richard Herrera are the winner of the Amazing Race Asia Season 4. I have been a fan of this series and after being so close in Season 2 with Mark and Rovilson practically dominated most of the race and fell short on the final race finishing 3rd and in Season 3 with Geoffrey and Tisha finishing 2nd. Finally a Philippine team has won it in season 4. In 2nd place are the Singapore all female team of Claire and Michelle and 3rd is the father and daughter Indonesian team Hussein and Natasha.

Congratulations to the Richards for winning it!!!. YESSSSSS.

Mahan Garden Resort at Island City of Samal 2010

My wife and her office mate celebrated their Christmas at Mahan Garden Resort. The place is nice, the cottages was great, and the beach well, compared to some beaches such as paradise or costa marina still needs a little maintenance but its still nice compared to other beaches that are still being developed. And whats great!!! NO CORKAGE!!!! YESSSSSS. You can celebrate, bring your food and drinks without worrying to pay for corkage. Some resort here in Davao and Samal(well almost all of them) you have to pay for corkage. Man, you already spent that much for the food and drinks and then when you reach the resort you have to pay for bringing them? So that's what great about this place, NO CORKAGE I repeat NO CORKAGE aside from that also got a function hall for those gatherings such as family reunions and more. Below are some photos of the place and the cost.

Kerygma Conference 2010 at BSP Davao Convention Center

Photobucket

I have never seen Bo Sanchez in person, but I'm familiar with his works and especially with his magazine Kerygma,I really like the topics discuss in it, experiences of people and his advice to them.

The Kergyma Conference 2010 was held at BSP Davao Convention Center last Saturday December 4. And it was a success, the place was filled with people eager to see Bo and the other speaker, and I know they were not disappointed. Bo's topic about the prodigal son was enlightening, he gave such deep meaning to the story the made me say "Ohhh yun pala yun" hehehe. Never knew there was such a deep meaning to the story about forgiveness. The other speaker was Pio Español and Obet Cabrillas. After the break there was a Mass and a Healing Service. I just can't wait for the following year for the Kerygma Conference to come back here in Davao.

Signs that you have Finally met the One

For all those singles out there, here's one for you to read. How will you know that the person you're dating who is all caring, funny and nice, is the ONE that you've been searching for? Below are some signs that the person you're with or dating maybe the ONE.
  • You're not chasing the relationship's potential. A happy and well adjusted couple doesn't have to chase what could be or should be.
  • Who you are is good enough. He/She loves you for who you are, you never have to impress the ONE since you've done that by just being you.
  • You manage conflict well. How much a couple fight isn't the issue. The important thing is that how the couple manages conflict that determines how well the relationship works.
  • Your friends and family see what you see. If your family and friends see what you see in this person and encourage the relationship.
  • You have the same life priorities. Compatibility is the word to describe this. It is the key when it comes to creating a deep and lasting connection between two people. If you have the same priorities, then the two of you has a better chance of a long term happiness and fulfillment together.
  • You respect the person deeply. Mutual respect is crucial for a healthy relationship. You like each other because you appreciate the way you live your individual lives.

Simple Guide to Saying No

Yup I know it's hard to say no to someone. For some people saying No is a major decision. "saying yes when you need to say No causes burnout. You do yourself and the person making the request a disservice by saying yes all of the time," says author Duke Robinson. Here are some advice to help you.
  • Saying No for the Sake of Your Wallet. If a friend in need asks for a huge loan, you can say. "I wish I could, but as a rule, I don't lend money to friends." By not singling out the person, you're not saying he or she is untrustworthy. According to communications trainer Don Gabor, "It can change the nature of your relationship if the person doesn't pay you back."
  • Saying No for the Sake of Your Time. You are offered a promotion that you don't want and demands more hours and more responsibility. You can reply, "I'm flattered that you want me, but for personal reasons I'm not in a situation where I can take this on. Can we talk again if my circumstances change?" By saying this, your boss will understand that you have personal priorities that take precedence.
  • Saying No for the Sake of Your Sanity. A guest offers to bring a dish that doesn't go with the theme of your party. Just say, "What a kind offer - thank you. I have already planned the menu, but do you have and dietary restrictions I should know about?" If she's just being nice, then acknowledging her offer lets the person know she did all she could. Of course, if she has dietary restrictions then you can change your mind and let her bring a dish that she can eat.

What to do When your Spouse is having an Affair

A nice article I found on our library archive about relationships. Marital infidelity doesn't mean the end of a marriage, although it may feel that way. Believe it or not, many affairs have served to jump start dying relationships and moved partners out of their comfort zones. If you find yourself in this situation, here are some tips from relationship experts:

1. The news will hit you hard and will hurt a lot but hold off making any hasty decision about your future.

2. Your spouse should agree to end the illicit relationship. If not, leave him or her.

3. When both of you are calm, have a serious talk about the root and causes of the affair.

4. Answer the question: What needs to change in your marriage to prevent future infidelity?

5. Seek counseling as a couple.

How To Make Yourself Indispensable

Its hard to find a new job now a days. So make yourself indispensable to your company. Employers often say that the key to keeping one's job is not about skills you have, but it's more of the person's qualities, habits and capabilities. Here are some tips for you:

1. Focus on your company's success, not your own. In challenging times, your employer wants a selfless, highly collaborative team player who meets and exceeds his commitments.

2. Be open to change. Be flexible and open minded. Say yes to any and all changes that management throws your way. And this includes tightening of your budget, more work with the same resources, higher goals, and so on.

3. Everything is your job. Take on tasks that fall outside your job description. This will serve you well come performance appraisal or downsizing time.

4. Throw away your negative mindset. Employers value employees whose positive attitude contributes to a more productive team. Whatever it takes, keep the negative mindset out of the office. Focus on what can be and not what can't.

5. "Unwritten rules" are now engraved in stone. Be prepared to show up early or stay late, or go beyond what's expected of you. Management now notices people who leave on the dot or take very long breaks, and so on.

Practical Money Saving Tips

Living in a tight budget is not the easiest thing to do, but it can be done. If you find that you overspend every month, here's a list of practical saving tips you can apply to help keep you expenses down.

  • Pay cash whenever possible. This will help you from making a purchase unless you have actually have money available. If you decide to make a credit card purchase, be prepared to pay the balance off monthly.
  • Bring your own baon. Eating out whether at a restaurant or at the office cafeteria, cost a lot more then bringing your own lunch.
  • Cut down unnecessary texts and cellphone calls. Schedule calls that are not time sensitive on Sundays and off peak hours. If you can postpone your call until you get to a land line, then wait.
  • Get a piggy bank and pour your change into it on a daily basis. What's important to remember is that saving a peso here and there eventually adds up. Avoid the temptation to splurge a little more just because you don't think it would save that much money. If you can shave off P300 a month from your regular expenses, that amounts to 3,600 a year.

Fashionable Nursing Scrub Suit

I miss my days as a nursing student, well to be exact, a second courser in Nursing. It was years already since I finished my nursing course, as of now I'm concentrating on my work, and still is deciding whether to pursue on taking a board exam in nursing. I really like it when I was assigned to the operating room or delivery room, because that's where all the action is. When I'm in that area, we where required to wear scrubs. My only problem is my cotton scrubs is way bigger than my size, which make me look a lot bigger, and a little untidy. I have to order that suit from my classmate and the available sizes where just medium, large and extra large. I chose the XL but didn't know that it was that big hahaha, but it's already there so I had to make due.

I only had 1 pair of that suit so I had to be careful not to stain it hahahaha. But still being inside the OR and DR was a blast. Now a days I would see nursing students in their scrub suit, and theirs is now a little fashionable than mine was years back. In terms of design, cloth, brand. Wow, its really nice to look at. I ask one student where she bought her suit and said to me, their group had decided to buy medical scrubs online. Ahhh technology nowadays, almost everything can be bought online. I'm also planning to buy one online to, since I really like those new fashionable suits these days.
