Hazards of Oral Piercing

Contrary to popular belief, body piercing is not a fad set by hard core rock stars. Tongue piercing, for instance, was a ritual from the Aztec and Mayan tribes of Central America.

The ritual is done to appease the gods by drawing blood from the tongue and waiting for the priest (shaman) to arrive at an altered state of consciousness. Nowadays, demigods come in the form of high paid singers, basketball players or actors. Fans get 'hooked' on the image of their idols riveted tongues and stapled eyebrows.

The barbaric nature of such procedures is not without hazards. Here are some of the hazards you might encounter:

INFECTION - The mouth is an abyss of bacteria. An open wound in the tongue cultivates bacteria and invites infection.

PROLONGED BLEEDING - Damage to the blood vessels can cause serous blood loss.

SWELLING AND POSSIBLE NERVE DAMAGE - Healing takes longer since the tongue is in constant motion. Reported cases show extreme swelling that blocked the airway.

How to Keep The Romance Alive for Married Couples

As with most good things in life, it takes work to keep the flame of love burning. Let romance continue in your marriage with some helpful steps below:

  • TELL THE TRUTH. It's the ultimate aphrodisiac and a great way to create connection between husband and wife. So tell the truth, like, "I feel safe when I am with you." Just share your feelings and speak from your experience.
  • APPRECIATE YOU AND YOUR PARTNER. Take time to understand and focus on what it is you like about yourself, and your partner. Successful relationships have a five to one ratio of appreciations to criticisms; so if you want some fires lit, start appreciating.
  • LISTEN. We all want to be seen and heard. Just being with your partner and just really listening can be magical for you both.
  • CREATE ROMANCE WITHIN YOURSELF FIRST. Instead of looking for the spark from your partner, why don't you start the fire? Create your own romantic mood - dress up, put on music, prepare tasty food. Take time to love and appreciate yourself first. It will not be long before your partner will join the fun.
  • ASK FOR WHAT YOU WANT. Tell your partner that you want to spend some romantic time with him/her. (You might be surprised at how often many of them are unaware of this.) Of course, the best strategy is through kind and loving words.

Liturgical Vestment Made of Indigenous Materials Showcased at The Museum of Transfiguration Monastery, Bukidnon

The highlight for me during my visit to The Museum of Transfiguration Monastery in Bukidnon was the different design of Liturgical Vestment made from indigenous materials found here in the Philippines. Vestments are liturgical garments and articles associated with the Christian religion. The designer of this masterpiece is no other then Dom Martin Gomez, who before entering the monastery was a well know Haute Couturer. Even though he left the limelight when he entered the monastery his passion for designing still burns in him. He started conducting research on indigenous materials by visiting places in the Philippines, tapping talents from the countries best weavers from several tribal groups to help him on his designs. I have the complete photos of the exhibit but I will only post some of his works because it will take time and space on my site.

Knowing The Colors That Match Your Personality

Colors make a fashion statement, people a drawn to the colors that flatter their figure and complexion, especially the women. The color people usually choose to wear is the image they want to project. Lets find out what fashion statement you're making with the colors you wear on an everyday basis and what the color of your clothing says about your personality.

  • BLACK: Conservative yet sexy, black is versatile. Wearing black clothing makes you appear slimmer, giving your self-esteem a turbo boost.
  • PINK: Traditional and charming, pink is feminine all the way. A pink and black combo is trendy twosome for women who like to add mystery to their otherwise girly image.
  • RED: Bold and vibrant, red attires make you the center of attention. Red portrays the adventurous side that's undeniable.
  • BLUE: Fun-loving and free, blue clothing attracts independent people who are comfortable in their skin.
  • ORANGE: Extroverted and gutsy, orange means you like to stand out in a crowd. Never taking life for granted, you enjoy new challenges and have a tendency to come out on top.
  • YELLOW: Always the optimist, you're athletic and outdoorsy. Yellow reflects a vibrant personality and great intuition.
  • WHITE: Those who favor white prefer "safe" colors for a perfect. White can be a great accent for a deep, dark tan, adding sex appeal to the "colorless" color.
  • GREEN: If you're hot on green, you're down to earth, natural beauty. While somewhat stubborn.

Cosplay At Gaisano Mall Davao

The last day of the 1st Mindanao Toys, Hobbies, and Collectibles Convention was highlighted by the Cosplay contest although there where plenty of people who roam the mall with their costumes, but not of them joined the contest. I really admire people who do Cosplay, especially those good ones, they are really creative an to top it all brave to face all those people wearing those costumes that they have made. The contest started almost 3pm, but to my dismay much of the contestant who joined only buy or borrowed those costumes. Only a handful had really made their costumes. We bought a Canon Powershot SX120 IS it has 10 megapixel , 10x optical zoom, red eye correction and is powered by 2 AA battery. My only problem about it is its user manual which was too short in explaining the product.

Thank God its Friday, though I still have work tomorrow :-( but the nice thing today is that, its PAYDAY yeah that's what I've been waiting for hahaha, Aside from that. What comes in to my mind every time I heard about Friday the 13th is the movie entitled "Friday the 13th" its one of the best horror flick I've seen since i was in high school i think?? Although some same Friday the 13 is day of good or bad luck. I already forgotten how many Film were made of this franchise? I think its a total of 12 if I'm not mistaking. Friday the 13th is about the Hockey mask wearing, killing machine Jason Voorhees, who on every Friday the 13th comes back to life to kill people on Camp Crystal Lake.

Aliens and Velociraptors at the Davao Agri Trade Fair and Horticulture Exhibit

As the Kadayawan festival in Davao City is fast approaching, so are the events in different malls appear, one of my favorites is the Davao Agri Trade Fair which is usually held at SM. Usually when we talk about Agri Trade Fair, its all about plants, rare ones, herbal, cactus but if you want those you can visit this site Davao Delights, but I think she has not posted the pictures about the plants yet but im sure this week she will. What caught my eye during the visit was the wood sculptures, at first I didn't notice it but a second glance though looks familiar. Ohh i get it, its an alien sculpture from the "Aliens" movie and also a sculpture of a velociraptor or maybe a T-rex you make the judgement.

here are the photos:
